Our law practice includes providing mediation and arbitration services when requested. Our building located on Fleet Street in downtown Brookings has sufficient space and individual offices to conduct confidential mediation and arbitration proceedings as requested.

Mediation

Mr. Olin is available to provide mediation services as the mediator to parties engaged in civil disputes of many kinds ranging from business and land disputes to family law and dissolution matters. Mediation is an informal negotiation assisted by an impartial third party (the mediator) that encourages disputing parties to craft their own solutions. In business it may enhance the likelihood of continuing the business relationship. Mediation procedures are included in all of the major AAA arbitration rules and contracts reference Arbitration Services of Portland. Frequently, mediation is used as either as an option to avoid arbitration or court litigation, or as a step necessary prior to arbitration or filing of a legal action.

Arbitration

Our office is also available to conduct Arbitration proceedings on behalf of disputing parties. Arbitration is the out-of-court resolution of a dispute between parties to a contract or other (typically civil) matter when decided by an impartial third party (the arbitrator). It is often required under various contracts and can be faster and more cost effective than litigation in a courtroom. Court rules often require the referral of the matter to arbitration prior to further proceedings in the state court proceeding. Arbitration is often the only available mechanism for deciding disputes surrounding land transactions covered by typical Realtor sales agreements in the State of Oregon.
